Astral Drive: Episode 29

A science fantasy scene at a futuristic ranch on a desert planet. In the foreground stands Santano, a humanoid plant creature with cactus-like features, vine-like limbs, and visible feet, gazing thoughtfully ahead. To his side, a vampire character in gothic attire converses with a rugged cowboy. The background reveals a ranch house with a wide porch, set against a flat, arid landscape under a twilight sky, where elements of magic and technology blend seamlessly

In this episode of Astral Drive, our heroes face new challenges and unexpected alliances as they navigate the complexities of the Genesis system.

A Meeting at Stonehand Ranch

The episode kicks off at Stonehand Ranch, where Alfred White Castle, played by Ash, encounters Nullis and his companions. The characters discuss recent events and plot their next moves. The episode introduces intriguing figures, including Santano, a mysterious “green” plant-like being whose background adds depth to the setting’s lore.

Vampire Intrigues and Dangerous Complications

Alfred reveals complications tied to his vampiric origins and introduces a new layer of tension: a powerful vampire queen pressing him to secure the “Missionary One” to aid their escape from the solar system. The stakes are raised as he faces pressure from both external threats and the vampire hierarchy.

A New Ally and a Race Against Time

The heroes decide to enlist Santano’s help as a new ally while formulating a plan to retrieve the Missionary One and rescue their comrade, Abreo. Time is of the essence, as they have only a few days to act before Alfred’s condition worsens due to the strain of keeping Abreo’s DNA stable.

Abrego’s Discovery and a Hidden Threat

Meanwhile, Abreo uncovers a secret journal that reveals insights into ancient vampiric texts. However, his efforts are interrupted by a summons from High Father Pelton, who has plans involving the Syam and Fy tribes. The complex political landscape unfolds further as Abreo navigates the delicate balance of power among the factions.

Preparing for a Diplomatic Mission

The episode concludes with a setup for the next installment, where the heroes must mediate between a Fy tribe and Pilgrim landowners. This quest promises to explore deeper themes of cultural conflict and negotiation, integral to the Single Mod system’s roleplaying mechanics.

Astral Drive is a tabletop role playing game live play. The game system behind this exciting world is called Single Mod. The Astral Drive setting will be coming out in the future, but for now the core mechanics are available here.
